The Problem with The Babysitter

In one of Netflix’s newer film releases, The Babysitter, none of the characters do any of the things the audience would do. Standard fare for a horror movie is for the protagonist to react to various situations in ways that make the viewer say to themselves, “don’t go upstairs” or “in the basement,” etc. But with this movie, I found myself even challenging the villains actions, which I think is a little unusual. This was probably because they were also people and I couldn’t help but think about the consequences of their actions, and their lack of concern for them. It was surprising, and I kind of just thought they were being stupid.

Overall, though, I would recommend it—it’s a fun horror movie.
